                Theresa G passed away last Sunday.  The funeral was held on Thursday.  Remember this family, including Theresa’s brother, Ben H, in your prayers.

                Karen B begins radioactive iodine treatments on Tuesday, February 9 at Christ Hospital. This involves spending several days in isolation as follow-up to the thyroid cancer.  Pray for Karen and Bernie and the family during this time.

                Dub (John Sr.) D is halfway through his chemo and radiation treatments.  His mouth is developing sores but a new mouth guard should help to shield this.  Continue to lift up Dub and Marilyn.

                Ed D is continuing with chemo treatments every other week.  Pray for effectiveness of the treatments as you continue to remember Ed and Carol in your prayers.

                Dale and Marianne V would like to thank the congregation for the cards, meals and prayers after Dale’s recent knee replacement surgery.

                Faith Family, we want to thank you so much for your support of our efforts to plant a church in Denver. You have blessed us with your generosity. Thank You! We are happy to announce that we met our year-end goal of raising $20,000 in pledges and cash donations. God is so good! With your encouragement we now turn to our next goal – to raise an additional $30,000 by Easter. We thank you for your support thus far and we ask that you continue to hold us in your prayers. For continuous updates, check out our blog.  We love you all.  -Sam and Nate D - M

ALPHA is here!  We will meet for 10 Tuesdays, starting this Tuesday, Jan 12 at 6:30pm.

Who should come, and why? It's for everyone!  Come if you want to investigate Christianity, or to brush up on basics of Christianity, to meet and talk with others; if you never/rarely go to church, or attend all the time; if you are curious. It's a comfortable, non-threatening place to discuss, and ask any question that might be on our minds and hearts - no question is too simple or too hostile.  If you would like to explore questions like "What is the meaning of life?" or "What happens when we die?” then Alpha is for you!

                What does an evening look like?  It will always begin with a - yes! -home-made! dinner, followed by DVD talks on topics such as "Who is Jesus?", "Why and How Should I Read the Bible?", and "Does God Heal Today?", then dessert and discussion.  The evening ends at 8:45pm.

                We will meet here at Faith. There is no charge.  Nursery is provided, with the same caregiver each week.  The first week is introductory, so come to check it out.  If you can't make it the first night, come the next time.  Brochures are in the back of church. Bring a friend or come with a friend if they don't want to come alone!  Call  for more info.

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;

his greatness no one can fathom.

One generation will commend your works to another;

they will tell of your mighty acts.

They will tell of the power of your awesome works,

and I will proclaim your great deeds.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate,

slow to anger and rich in love.

The LORD is good to all;

he has compassion on all he has made.

 The LORD upholds all those who fall

and lifts up all who are bowed down.

 The LORD is near to all who call on him,

he hears their cry and saves them.

 All you have made will praise you, O LORD;

your saints will extol you.

 They will tell of the glory of your kingdom

and speak of your might,

 so that all men may know of your mighty acts

and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

and your dominion endures through all generations.

The LORD is faithful to all his promises

and loving toward all he has made.

One generation will commend your works to another;

and I will proclaim your great deeds.

Praise be to God!

Assurance of Pardon

The LORD works vindication

and justice for all who are oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses,

his acts to the people of Israel.

The LORD is merciful and gracious,

slow to anger
and abounding in steadfast love.

He will not always accuse,

nor will he keep his anger forever.

He does not deal with us
according to our sins,

nor repay us according to our iniquities.

For as the heavens
are high above the earth,

so great is his steadfast love
toward those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west,

so far he removes our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion
for his children,

so the LORD has compassion
for those who fear him.

For he knows how we were made;

he remembers that we are dust.

As for mortals, their days are like grass;

they flourish like a flower of the field;

for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,

and its place knows it no more.

But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting

on those who fear him,

and his righteousness to children’s children,

to those who keep his covenant

and remember to do his commandments.

                      —Psalm 103:6-18, NRSV

Profession: HC Q&A 27 & 28

27.       Q. What do you understand by
the providence of God?

            A. Providence is

            the almighty and ever present

power of God

            by which he upholds, as with his hand,

                        heaven and earth

                        and all creatures,

                        and so rules them that

                                    leaf and blade,

                                    rain and drought,

                                    fruitful and lean years,

                                    food and drink,

                                    health and sickness,

                                    prosperity and poverty--

                                    all things, in fact,

come to us not by chance

but from his fatherly hand.

28        Q. How does the knowledge
of God's creation and providence help us?

A. We can be patient when things go against us,

thankful when things go well,

and for the future we can have

good confidence in our faithful God and Father

that nothing will separate us from his love.

All creatures are so completely in his hand

that without his will

they can neither move nor be moved.

Message:  Pastor Mark T

Message Notes:  What Shall We Call Him?

From Hebrews

The Heir of All Things:  Hebrews 1:1,2:  In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

One Who Has Been Tempted in Every Way:  Heb. 4:15:  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

The Great High Priest, in the Order of Melchizedek:  Heb. 6:19b,20:  [This hope]…enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.  He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

The Author and Perfecter of Our Faith:  Hebrews 12:2:  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God.

The Great Shepherd of the Sheep:  Hebrews 13:20:  May the God of peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep…..
